The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns, 35% of men and 12% of women. The Second Amendment states, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” For the past few years the control over guns and gun violence has been a major topic in politics. Gun ownership has doubled in the 20th century and the murder rates decreased. The states with the most gun ownership have the largest drop in violent crimes. The effect of concealed gun laws one crimes where more than two people were killed have been dramatic. When states passed these laws the multiple victim shootings declined by nearly 83%, and the deaths from these shootings have also declined by about 90%. Even though the gun ownership helps with the lowering of the crime, the legal purchase of a handgun appears to be associated with a long lasting increased risk with violent gun deaths. There were 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999-2013: 270,237 suicides, 174,773 homicides, and 9,983 unintentional deaths. Gun control, it is completely bogus. Add more control, add more violence. Another i feel strongly about would be the ban on “assault weapons,” which would infringe upon the right to own guns for sport and hunting. In the United states there are over 13.7 million hunters of 16 years old or older. 32% of gun owners own guns for hunting and 7% own them for target or sport
