Gun Control generally refers to laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. They vary greatly around the world. This is just one way to summarize what gun control is. After reviewing the pros and cons or gun control I find myself still voting against gun control. The top ten pros of gun control include 1. Well statistics prove this is untrue, stating that in 2009 guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed. I jumped websites to research done closer to the present about crime. I found through Pew Research Center that most American’s think the homicide rate has risen due to such high number of mass shootings it has actually been stable. This data was collected from death records by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. From 1993 to 2000 dropped nearly half from 7.0 to 3.8 homicides per 100,000 people. From 2010 to 2013, the most recent year data are available, the number of gun homicides has hovered between 11,000 and 12,000 per year. A growing number of deaths by firearms is coming from suicides not homicides and has been for the past two decades. In recent years it has risen, from 6.3 per 100,000 people in 2010 to 6.7 in 2013.
