So far, 9 states, including WIsconsin and Kansas, allow guns on school campuses. With all of these school shootings and bombings happening everywhere, why shouldn’t we arm teachers to protect the students in case of anything happening like this? Things like these happen because there is little to no protection in schools. By training and certifying teachers to help protect the kids, schools could become safer places for them. Of course, not everyone would agree upon arming teachers, but if those people look at what potential good can come out of it, then they can realize that by doing this, schools would be safer for them and their children.
Teachers who have a Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) are not as much of a threat to schools or kids as some people may think. According to Huffington Post, teacher David Kaplan states about CWPs, “I’ve never heard of a CCW holder committing an act of violence on a school campus.” (Should Teachers Be Armed at School?) As well, according to The New Yorker, Vice President of the N.R.A, William LaPierre, stated “that children had been put in danger by “laws for gun-free zones” and by having “unarmed principals.” (Sorkin) With all of this being implied, why shouldn’t teachers be able to have CCW permits or even weapons on …show more content…

However, if used by the right people, a.k.a. the teachers who have been trained and certified to use/own a firearm correctly, people would be and feel safer around them. Not all teachers are as bad as everyone thinks they are. Sure, there those teachers that are bad and will try to harm others, but then there are the other kinds of teachers who will do anything to help out the students with whatever they need help
