The issue of housing in the United States has been a controversial issue. Previous problems including housing segregation has led to the vast inequalities seen today. Due to this, some say that housing should thus become a right provided by the government. However, in order to truly solve the problem of homelessness affecting the U.S., the government being a faulty actor, should rather should step aside allowing for charitable, more holistic solutions. Homelessness has been an epidemic seizing the country, leading to many harmful impacts. Currently, there is a nationwide shortage of housing for extremely low income individuals and family. Homelessness and a lack of housing security has a solid foundation without appropriate action being undertaken. The next generation of population in the United States is uniquely positioned for homelessness and a plethora of horrific side-effects which accommodate being homeless.
