According to the United States Department of State, there were more than 50,000 victims of human trafficking in the country during 2008. Comprised of victims from Russia, Brazil, Ukraine, Nigeria, Colombia, Ecuador and so forth were been transported to Spain as sex slaves and labor forces (U.S. Department of State, 2008). Human trafficking is a global issue where cooperation of states through Intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations is needed to tackle it. Human trafficking issue has been entangled Spain since a long time ago and government found it hard to resolve. An Anti-Trafficking Directive was adopted in 2011 to urge all the courts in European Countries to punish equally heavy for the crimes related to human trafficking and provide sufficient support to the victims of human trafficking. Furthermore, a national rapporteur has to be appoint in every member-states to monitor the implementation of anti-human trafficking policy in the national level. While, Commission of European Union became a platform for all the member-states to share the best practice in combating human trafficking and stay in a close cooperation with Non-governmental organizations, private sectors and other bodies. Other than that, European Union Strategy towards the Eradication of Trafficking in Human Beings was adopted in 2012 that set a concrete measures to be implement over the 5 years.
