Every year, there are hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants that came from all around the world. All these immigrants come to the United States to seek a new beginning or they want a chance at a better life; others are refugees, escaping persecution and civil wars in their home country. Many people believe that the United States is the best place to go for a better life. The United States is one of the best countries in the world. In the United States there is more freedom, benefits, rights, protection, and opportunities. The problem with immigration is that the taxpayers have to pay for welfare and the schooling for these immigrants. Many immigrants are willing to work for lower wages and that’s how they are taking over jobs all over the United Sates. Over one million of immigrants come to the United States annually. The enormous population growth is becoming an environmental threat to the United States. Immigrants are affecting the growth of larger cities, which then leads to pollution to the environment. The environment is changing due to all the illegal immigrants who are coming to the United States. Forest and parks are being cleared to make new homes for the many people who are migrating to the United States. Removing forest will cause the wildlife to move to a new location where they cannot adapt and they can become extinct. The illegal immigrants are causing a strain in welfare and the health care facilities. For example, in California, taxpayers were paying three billion dollars a year to benefit illegal immigrants with education, healthcare, and other benefits. In 1994, California voters approved Proposition 187, which aimed to deny public benefits to illegal immigrants. The government has offered immigration amnesty to people who have entered the United States illegally or whose immigration status has expired.
