Anyone can serve their country, but there are few who go above and beyond. Joining the military is a great way to serve America and be more than just regular. Some young adults join for personal satisfaction and pride, while others join as a first step to a life long career (military.com). My grandpa, Chester Fisk, joined because it was the only logical option for him. It must have worked out well because he ended up serving for twenty two years, two months and fourteen days in the United States Army.
A veteran is someone who has served a long time in the military, no matter what their age. Veterans are important to our freedom because while serving their time, you have to remember that they are fighting for your right to be free in the United States. Without them, there wouldn’t be any freedom in this world. They fight for what they believe in and what is right for the country. You have to remember, these war vets are putting their lives on the line for people they don’t even know.
Attention, you have been called upon to fight in our nation’s war. This is something that you might receive if our country still had a draft. The draft was used during both World Wars and many other wars our country has been involved in. If you are called upon for the draft you have to join the military for the war. Any person that skipped out was then treated as a felon and went to jail if they were caught.
Bring Our Troops Home In the United States many people believe that maybe our troops should not be overseas in the middle east. In the Iraq and Afghanistan, we've lost 6,831 soldiers for being in a war that we didn't have to be in. I don't believe we should still have our troops overseas for reasons not concerning to us.
In the United States, serving in the military is seen as a model of true patriotism, and rightfully so. Service members train for 10 weeks in their transition from civilian to a soldier. They train to be able to endure all the hardships that may come their way. Service members have to be in the best physical shape to serve and because of all that they do, they are thought of as brave and selfless people. Service members make extreme sacrifices to defend our country and act selflessly by doing so; it is fitting that they are seen as heroes by many Americans.
As I am getting ready to begin my college years, my experience in America is getting richer every day. I have realized how much opportunities I have being an American citizen and living in this part of the world compared to the life i lived in Togo and I intend to make the most of it. I’m working toward my goals and one of them is to join the military. Kennedy once said,” Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country” (Inaugural Address, 20 January 1961) global conflicts only seem to grow, the United States Military should stay on top. I strongly believe that every able bodied citizen that calls the United States home should serve in the Military for at least two years. If you call yourself a real American then you will agree with my opinions. All citizens should rely on their own working. Sadly, this is not true in America.
Commitment, dedication, and motivation are the three most important values when joining the military. Background checks and months of training are required to ensure that the best is selected to stand strong as one for the best interest of all. Regardless of the requisites, hundreds of individuals devote their time to become part of the US military, unfortunately it is not meant for everyone. Even though the system tries to ensure that only the strong get chosen, it has been proven to be flawed. For example, ex-military personal, like Robert (Bowe) Bergdahl, have left base camps or leaked information to express their feelings towards the military.
From the moment I was born I was considered a military brat, I was born in Hawaii at tripler hospital because my mom was in the army and stationed there, my biological father was in the marines. When my mom remarried when I was 7, she married a man who was in the Navy. Everyone thinks being a Military brat just means you know more than other people because you 've been more places and seen more things and you get a lot of stuff you want. This is not true at all. Coming from a military background means you never have stability, you are held to a higher standard than all the other kids, and sometimes it makes you want to be in the military and only focus on that.
Have you ever imagined growing up on a life of drugs, war, crime, and seeing things that many adults won’t dare to ever see? In many countries around the world, this is what many children have to deal with. There is an occurring issue of people across Africa and parts of Asia using children as soldiers in war. They act and take upon the roles of real combatants, causing the people of the public to act in different ways. It’s been well documented that these children have used guns and war tactics, and committed various illegal and illicit acts of violence.
The road to become an American soldier is not an easy one, for some it takes time and patients before even taking a single step in a recruitment center. On September 11 2001 I sat in my mother's living room watching the twin towers being under attack. At that moment, I felt that I needed to contribute to our country by serving in the U.S ARMY. Growing up I was raised by both my parents for most of my childhood.
Joining the army is a very frightening decision since the United States has many enemies and is currently at war against terror. The debate as to whether a country should have mandatory military conscription has been discussed and practiced in places all over the globe. For the United States, implementing this would have several benefits from which the country could profit on. With this required aspect, there could be a promotion to the nation’s unity in which people would have a sense of equality to one another. Also, it would ensure all receive basic skills to place themselves further within other job careers. Finally, the mandatory service brings better awareness and participation with the government.
The United States should call for mandatory military service to ensure the freedom and liberty for the children of tomorrow. A lot of people do not know the United States has called for mandatory military service before, just with a different name, the draft. The draft has been “employed by the federal government of the United States in four conflicts: the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam war. “This makes five different occasions when Americans were drafted for a total of 16.5 million people” ( Random Fact of The Day 1). 16.5 million people were drafted and under 1.25 million died in these wars, which is about a 7.6% death rate.
Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I always had a dream of joining the military. Though it was a choice, I still did not have any inside information of what it would be like, and the requirements and specifics of the Army. It wasn't until 2005 when I decided to join the United States Army that all my concerns and questions were answered by a recruit; and I was guided through the whole process to enter and prep for the Army. If it was not for the confidences and motivation of my recruiter back in 2005, I might have not made my leap and probably would not be in this uniform today. Becoming a member of the United States Army recruiting team means having a physical and mental toughness in order to perform efficiently.
