Kangaroos should be eaten as part of our Australian diet
The Aboriginals and the European settlers have eaten kangaroo meat for more than 40,000 years. I strongly believe that Kangaroos should be eaten as part of our Australian diet for a range of reasons. These include the health benefits kangaroo meat provides, the way they are harvested in their own habitat and the cost and access of this meat.
To start off, kangaroo meat should be eaten as part of our Australian diet due to its many health benefits. When it comes to good nutrition, kangaroo meat certainly is the right way to go. It is a terrific source of high-quality protein where 150g serving provides an average adult 66% of his/her daily protein needs. It is also low in fat only containing less than 2% fat. This meat is packed with the essential vitamins and minerals that we need. These include iron, zinc, plus it contributes valuable amounts of B- group vitamins to our diet. Kangaroo meat is also a source of omega-3.

Kangaroo has been sourced sustainably, responsibly and ethically. Kangaroos are unique indigenous species. Out of the 58 species of kangaroos, only 4 are commercially harvested. Due to increase in kangaroo numbers, it has become necessary to set a commercially harvested goal to a record of 8 million. Strict controls ensure that no more than the goal is actually harvested. Only males are harvested. Kangaroos are open range animals and are not farmed. In fact, kangaroos live in large pastoral areas of Australia and they are harvested in their own environment under strict quotas set by the Australian government. This means kangaroo meat is never exposed to antibiotics, added growth hormones or any added chemicals. Therefore it is the ultimate clean meat, the way we were meant to eat
