Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in all of the United States. The drug can serve for medical purposes as well as to create an illicit high. Some consumers use the drug to relieve stress, anxiety, fear, pain, or anger related to personal problems, psychological or family issues. Most of the people who use up the drug say the usage of marijuana isn't has harmful as consuming alcohol and other drug substances. This one of the reasons why proponents of marijuana have chosen to legalize the plant. However, they don't think about the consequences marijuana can bring to young adults and the community. I believe recreational marijuana shouldn't be legalized because weed can be dangerous and it is an addictive gateway drug that poses significant health threats to users, especially teenagers that are under the influence. Therefore, the crime rate in the state of California will increase due to more drug addicts committing violence in communities. The proposition 64 initiative allows residents to grow pot plants at home, this can effect property values & communities. Parents wouldn't be pleased raising their children in a neighborhood with drug addicts, bad influential adolescents, and dirty properties due to parties that might've been under the use of recreational drugs. Legalizing recreational marijuana in California can put young children in danger because people who want to try stronger illicit drugs consume hallucinogenic drugs, which can cause them to abuse children physically and mentally.
