To some Marijuana is just an organic substance that grows in nature, but in the eyes of the government and some of its sympathizers it is simply a widely illegally produced controlled substance. The debate whether to legalize Marijuana has been an ongoing dispute for many years. People have laid out the pros and cons whether it would be for the greater good to legalize it. My goal below is to elaborate on the truths and falsities of Marijuana. Marijuana, how we should legalize it instead of turning a blind eye to the majority of the populations illegally consumption of this illicit substance.

When a medical doctor prescribes the drug some people have a tendency to share after the prescription is filled or some sell the prescription itself both of those methods are highly illegal and can lead to losing the medical ID card as well as receive criminal summonses. With every drug, there are safety precautions that need to be taken; people who attempt to sell their filled scripts do not necessarily receive the punishment they deserve. The laws for such crimes should have a stricter punishment for those who have ID cards they have a higher responsibility and it should only be used to benefit themselves and not others. The legalization of marijuana would also benefit the economy tremendously, If marijuana was legalized the government would be able to put a tax the drug and increase revenue. At that time, they will be able to devote more of their efforts to crack down on the more dangerous drugs i.e. cocaine and heroin
