Marijuana should be legalized for many reasons. Dubbed “The Devils Lettuce” by some and “The Angel Plant” by others .There are no serious health issues tied to it, In fact doctors prescribe it to treat various diseases and disorders. The Government could save a ton of money while also make more from taxing it. Police wouldn’t have to arrest as many people, this resulting in less crowded prisons. These are just a few of the reasons why legalizing Marijuana would benefit the Government and the people.
Money & Profits
The economic benefits of legalizing Marijuana are great. It has made big impacts on Tax Revenue and Jobs. In 2015, Colorado collected more than $15 million in taxes and fees on medical and recreational Marijuana. Sales in the State alone totaled over $996 million (Investopedia). That's almost a billion dollars off of weed alone in only one State, Now imagine that in all 50 states. Even if It were to be legal in Texas, Who has over five times the population Colorado does, the profit would be colossal (US …show more content…

Alcohol is addicting and people develop strong tolerances for it. There were 10,497 people killed in alchohol related crashes in 2016, 1,233 of them being children under the age of 14. Drunk driving also causes damages added up to 44 Billion dollars per year. It causes Brain damage, cancer and death. Cigarettes have are one of the worst things you can put in your body. They claim over 5 million lives world wide annually, The maven States “Even in a direct comparison, marijuana is demonstrably safer. A 20-year study found smoking as often as a joint a day for seven years does not harm the lungs”.
