Imagine a person with seizures or severe arthritis, Marijuana can ease related pains and diseases at a relatively low cost. A person doesn’t have to be sickly to consume Marijuana but instead be used to relax your body and mind when they are at unrest. Statistics from the National Institute on drugs show, “Marijuana or cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug to date in the United States of America” (Abuse NIDA). Over every other consumable substance, Marijuana is the most used substance. Over 90 million individuals in the US alone have admitted to using the substance. For people with untreatable and incurable diseases, Marijuana is one of the cheaper options that soothes and calms nerve cells so cancer patients can live a pain-free life. For people who suffer from not as serious diseases as shown “In 2011, researchers reported that cannabis reduces pain and inflammation, and promotes sleep, which may help relieve pain and discomfort for people with rheumatoid arthritis” (Kabir). Around one and a half million people suffer from arthritis in the United States. Marijuana isn’t an independent supplement to help people with arthritis but it’s trustworthy when looking for a medicine. But it doesn't stop after just cancer and arthritis. “Scientists are also conducting preclinical and clinical trials with marijuana and its extracts to treat numerous diseases and conditions, such as the following: HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer's, Inflammation, Pain, Seizures, Mental Disorders” (Abuse NIDA). Millions of people suffer from diseases like so and Marijuana is being used to help people with them.
