Colonizing Mars is the future of mankind. If we sent humans to Mars, we could find resources unknown to Earth, and maybe even alien life. Being a multiplanetary species would mean still having part of our species preserved, incase of a mass extinction, but nobody can really predict when the next global-extinction is, so we should prepare for it. Habiting Mars would ensure the existince of our species. If some people left Earth, that would help Earth recover from pollution destruction, and maybe even make Earth better. Modern humans have been around for hundreds of thousands of years, and if we inhabit Mars, we will subsist for much longer. The first reason to go to Mars is for the things we could find there. Iron, magnesium, aluminum, calcium, and potassium are extremely bountiful …show more content…
Even though it’s somewhat more flammable than magnesium, it can still do the trick. Another resource easily found on Mars is Calcium. Calcium is important for your bones. Even though the body produces calcium itself, it’s not enough. Without calcium, bones wither. Common foods that have calcium are yogurt, cheese, almonds, and milk. Milk is easy to obtain, that is, on Earth. It won’t be easy to farm animals on Mars, so acquiring dairy from them will most likely not be an option. With the main element in dairy being calcium, it’s assuring to know there is so much of it on Mars. The last resource most plentiful on Mars is potassium. “Potassium is known as an electrolyte, and this helps to maintain a healthy balance of fluids in the body. It also helps to transmit electrical pulses to allow for proper nerve and muscle function.” (https://www.avogel.co.uk/food/ vitamins-and-minerals/potassium/) Like calcium, potassium is easily obtained by comsumption, and is in avacadoes, bananas, potatoes, spinach, beans, citrus juices, and fish. Luckily, potatoes are the best-likely food to grow on Mars. They do not require much oxygen, rich soil, or sunlight, making farming them easy.
