Majority of the women around the world have rights revolving maternity leave as women are eligible to take a certain time-off. However, it is usually considered as unpaid leaves and many mothers cannot afford taking this leave. Numerous issues arise when women take these leaves as well, which include: cutting of hours, not suitable working conditions, and the cancellation of contracts due to pregnancy. Prenatal care is a type of preventive health care with the goal of providing regular check-ups in order to prevent any issues during pregnancy. Still, the minimum amount one would pay for prenatal health care is $2000 which many cannot afford. This makes them stress and worry about how they will be able to take care of the newborns.

The Under secretary general for management’s bulletin entitled “Family leave, maternity leave and paternity leave” includes as follows; If any submission by the staff member presents the expected date of birth, the person in charge should allow the pre-delivery leave. Also, upon a staff member who is allowed a period of maternity leave of less than 6 weeks may at the request, be allowed to work part-time between the 6th and 2nd week. As for paternity leave requests a staff member wanting to take a leave should request for one at least a month before, and if the request is asked for after the birth of the child, it must be proven by the child’s birth certificate.
