Cannabis. The devil’s lettuce. Mary jane. Marijuana has been called all of these, but we now know that it can be used for medical purposes. Many people have different views on the use of medical marijuana, but due to the curative chemicals in marijuana, it should be legalized in all 50 states in the United States for people with diseases such as epilepsy, glaucoma, cancer, muscle spasms, and other chronic pain. Today we see many people being diagnosed with diseases that are incurable, cause everlasting chronic pain, and disables people from doing daily activities. One of the most common things we see today is doctors and physicians prescribing people tons of medicine that only slows them down more. Medical marijuana has been listed as a Schedule 1 substance by the Drug Enforcement Agency. Marijuana has been proven a non addictive substance. With most of these diseases, severe chronic pain comes along, and it has been said that “sometimes marijuana is the only thing that works.” For instance, AIDS is an incurable disease and doctors prescribed tons of drugs to try and treat them. Due to the fact that marijuana is not legalized for recreational use except in California, if a police officer were to catch you with it, you would have to go through the possibilities of having a possession charge, and it would be a huge mess. Medical marijuana comes in two forms ; the pill and a joint. It has been shown ingesting it is safer than smoking, When smoking marijuana, you have effects such as headaches, tiredness, and dizziness. It is said that “marijuana smokers are at a much greater risk for contracting lung cancer.” Even though marijuana is plant based, studies have shown that it has been filled with different chemicals to make it safe to be medically
