Facebook posts, candlelight vigils, days of mourning, and for Ariana Grande to cancel her tour. Terrorists want reactions, and that is exactly what people give them after every type of terrorist attack. There is nothing wrong with the Facebook posts, candlelight vigils, and dedications. The problem is that is all that is done. The United States government needs to start taking extreme measures to keep citizens safe by monitoring suspected terrorists, and the government needs to start requiring extreme security scans before letting one into any public event.

A little over a year ago, over one hundred civilians were killed at an Eagles of Death Metal concert. The terrorist attack group, ISIS, claimed responsibility. There is constant fear of terrorism. The United States needs to start seriously monitoring emails, text messages, phone calls, and web searches for any suspicious activity that could lead to terrorism. This is no joke, extremism in the defense of being able to go to a baseball game, or concert without anxiety is no vice. If anyone is a suspected terrorist, they should be monitored. Some people say that the Patriot Act is unconstitutional, but is it worth risking a life? Monitoring a suspected terrorist could prevent an attack from happening, and save lives. Lastly, there should be extreme security scans at all public events. Not just a pat down, and quick look in the parking lot. To keep the safety of all people, the government should require extreme security scans- just like they do at the airport- for people to get into any type of public event. Yes, it may seem like an inconvenience, but if it is going to save lives, it is worth it. The government needs to be fighting for people’s
