1. Search Massbay’s website to find school’s plagiarism policy. What does it say? Summarize and cite where the policy is located? Plagiarism is an action of stealing someone’s ideas, thoughts and work and then submit it as our own work.
As I engage this unit’s Read and Attend assignments, I find that my understanding of plagiarism is not as fully developed as I had previously thought. Our Unit 3 Attend assignment shares that “in a general sense plagiarism may be caused by carelessness” and these circumstances frequently precipitate the lack of care required while writing (Bethel University, 2014, p. 11). The academic integrity tutorial provided additional information which I found valuable as well. Common themes within each unit assignment provide strands of continuity, while assisting with a more comprehensive understanding. It is my opinion, the type of plagiarism that is hardest for me to avoid is “plagiaphrasing”, also known as “lazy paraphrasing” (Bethel University, 2014, p. 12).
Compare and Contrast Argument Essay Adam Shepard and Chris McCandless are marvelous people who journey out to figure out if the American Dream was still alive and from both of their perspective both did achieve it, but one did not make it back. Both had a different objective of achieving the American Dream, McCandless went into the wilderness with only 10 pounds of rice, and a camera, while Shepard went into the city of Charleston with only $25, the clothes on his back, a sleeping bag, and a duffle bag. McCandless went into the wilderness because he said that his parents do not really love, he gets everything from them, and he wants to be more self-reliance. Shepard went into Charleston because he wanted to prove that the American Dream can be achieved anywhere only if you have the commitment to do it.
Hello Sierra, I see your citation is really well organized which mine is not. I see some mistakes that you have done in, first is that Christopher Dawson’s cite explanation is not in twelve point font. Second I see is that, every citation is in grey color which it supposed to be in black. Other than that, it looks good to me.
Plagiarism Policy of Conestoga College and University of Toronto According to all North American post-secondary institutions’ policies, cheating and copying of someone else’s words and thoughts as one’s own, is a serious academic offence and can be punished by expulsion. Conestoga College (Conestoga) and University of Toronto (U of T) also have the serious academic offense in regard to plagiarism. For example, in section 15 of Conestoga’s policy, it states that the students found violating the policy will be issued the following penalties, and on page 18 of U of T’s policy, it states that plagiarism is considered a serious offence against intellectual honesty and intellectual property. There are some similarities and differences in regard to plagiarism policy.
Analyzing Principles of Mission Command During "Operation Anaconda" SSG Bryson L. Taylor CCoE NCOA, Fort Gordon Georgia Senior Leaders Course: Class 005-23 SFC Thomas B. Tabor May 10, 2023 Analyzing Principles of Mission Command During "Operation Anaconda" Military operations require effective leadership, communication, and risk management to succeed. The principles of “commander's intent," "mission orders," "shared understanding," and "risk acceptance" are critical factors that can influence the outcome of a mission (Department of the Army [DA], 2019a). These principles were crucial to the success of "Operation Anaconda," a military operation in March 2002 in Afghanistan.
In an article written by Dr. Jemshed A. Khan, he claims that Roger Chillingworth poisoned Rev. Arthur Dimmesdale with a drug called atropine in The Scarlet Letter, a novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Surely, Chillingworth was “a man of skill in all Christian modes of physical science”(Hawthorne 67) and knowledgeable with medicinal herbs and roots that grew in the forest(Hawthorne 67). Knowing that then he would know how to kill Dimmesdale even though it would be slow and painful. Even though Dr. Khan’s article is in some way persuasive and supported well with different evidence, it isn’t examined further in depth. In The Scarlet Letter there is much support to prove the idea that Dimmesdale was not killed by atropine.
Would you give everything up to pursue a wild dream of living off the grid? Free from modern stresses and the ever haunting technological presents. That is what Christopher McCandless did in the book and film "Into The Wild". McCandless had just graduated top of his class and a successful athlete instead of starting his life and career, he abandons his family gives away his money and sets off to Alaska to escape from the pressures of his home and future. In McCandless 's situation, I know I would do the same thing.
Argumentative Essay Isaiah LaTurner Killing people isn’t good, but people fight wars and kill people to sustain a way of life, continue to survive and protect their family. In the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, there is a future where people are dragged down by technology and are like mindless sheep shuffling through life. This is sustained by censorship and limiting people 's knowledge, the government burns books and censors what people see on TV or listen to through their seashells, they use firemen to do this and censor everything.
Decisions made in the 1850s ultimately decided the United States fate. From the election of 1856 to the Dred Scott case, the nation would become divided into two. The South was pro-slavery and supported the idea of slavery expanded into western territories, while the North opposed of the idea and was mainly against expanding slavery. Until the 1850s the nation barely balanced the slavery issue.
In any school you have attended, plagiarism is a situation that a writer should not put themselves in under any circumstances. When reading the essay “Something Borrowed,” Malcolm Gladwell gave insight into the flaws of plagiarism that writers may not have thought about before. The first being that plagiarism is never acceptable (927). The second issue with plagiarism is recognizing the differences that can or cannot “inhibit creativity” (931). Being inspired by another person's work can help and guide you to build your own ideas, but simply taking their work and claiming it as yours is not permitted.
Dr. Ben Carson had been under plagiarism allegations in the past, due to a book he originally published 2011 called “America the Beautiful” In this novel he took many sections of other authors work dating back to 2007, and failed to give any of them the proper recognition. I would use Dr. Carson’s work as an example of intentional plagiarism. “Salomon also solicited every able-bodied Jewish man to fight in Washington’s army. After the war, he organized the first American veterans’ organization, “The Jewish War Veterans,” which is still active today.”
Enough evidence was given in the book that Hester deserves the punishment. To prove that she does, Hester was raised as a Puritan so she knew what would be the consequences she has committed adultery and is left with a baby alone to raise without a father role model. As well she is not suited to be a mother. She can’t keep Pearl.
Or, as the writer T.S. Elliot once said: “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different.” Universities aren’t teaching job skills This debate surrounding plagiarism is indicative of a wider discussion going on about the role universities play in training the next generation of
The seventh commandment is “you shall not steal.” Plagiarism is stealing, therefore you are committing but only a sin but also a crime. Copyrighting someone’s work without correct citations could lead to being sued or a prison sentence. Unfortunately the world we live in today it is not uncommon for people to plagiarize.
