To quote NBA Player Anthony Davis “It's stupid. But at the end of the day, like, it’s unacceptable. And I guarantee nothing is going to happen to the refs, We got cheated tonight, honestly." This showed how shocked and devastated the Lakers were after a game against the Boston Celtics where the refs stole the game out of their hands by not calling an obvious foul on LeBron James. Fans are what drive sports and when fans are constantly talking and complaining about refs it makes them less likely to watch. 79% of NFL fans have loved their team since being born and when they witness their team lose a game to a clearly bad call it affects the way they enjoy sports and it can affect their passion. It is also said that 27% of NFL fans find officiating terrible and this is way too high of a number, fans of the NFL and other leagues should be able to be content about what calls are made and how they are made but this isn't the case. An example of this was after the 2019 NFL NFC Championship game between the Saints and the Rams where Rams Cornerback Nickell Robey Coleman clearly committed a pass interference on Saints Wide Receiver Tommylee Lewis. This caused many fans to be absolutely shocked and 525,000 angry Saints fans called for a rematch after the disaster call at the end of the game. Even after this game the NFL admitted they were wrong but it was too late and the result stayed how it was. Although people think that fans could be biased towards their own team, non biased fans also have been very critical of refs. Many players have come out in protest against refs and complained about calls that they have made that have seriously changed the result of a game.
