¨1 in every 15 African American men, 1 in every 36 Hispanic men are incarcerated in comparison to 1 in every 106 white men. 2. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, one in three black men can expect to go to prison in their lifetime¨. Our prison system is looked at as a place of violence. Many people may argue that it should be that way and many people argue to disagree. Prisons most important function must be to rehabilitate and reintegrate criminals into society so prisons can have a positive effect on inmates, when or if they come home. Rehabilitation will be set to keep inmates orderly,improve, and restructure an inmate thinking.

Nature is hereditary and Nurture is environmental, you are not born to be a bad person or criminals. ¨Approximately 20 percent of inmates in jails and 15 percent of inmates in state prisons have a serious mental illness¨. Based on the total number of inmates, this means that there are approximately 356,000 inmates with serious mental illness in jails and state prisons. This is 10 times more than the approximately 35,000 individuals with serious mental illness remaining in state hospitals. A society have a major impact on a person, a person is a product of the society they live in. ¨Studies have shown that inmate participation in education, vocational and job training, prison work skills development, drug abuse, mental health and other treatment programs, all reduce recidivism, significantly.¨ We have the power to change criminals with voice and action. We must not punish someone who already is receiving a punishment by not having freedom. ¨We have developed our own approach towards rehabilitating people, involving psychological rehabilitation, social rehab within families and of our Religious Rehabilitation
