Save the Manatees or Be Responsible for Extinction. If saving the manatee population was up to you, would you be willing to put in the effort? Manatees were becoming extinct in 2014, but their species are slowly increasing. The manatee species suffered a huge population decline and have never fully recovered since. Manatee’s deal with countless amounts of threats, but the biggest threat is humans. Mankind doesn’t take into consideration that manatees are crucial assets to what makes the waters so unique. Mammals are made up of countless amounts of breeds, but there isn’t any as unique as the “water elephant”. Humans go throughout their lives worry free depending on who you ask, but that’s the complete opposite for manatees. Yet manatees don’t have a specific type of predator other than alligators they have to deal with the aggressive humans and toxic gasses created by oil rigs. Manatees are harmless creatures and useless in most cases. The interesting fact is that you don’t see many creatures like it. The reasons manatees are so unique is because of how big they are and how gentle they are to everything. Manatees aren’t appreciated enough as they should be, and that’s a big feature of why their population is threatened. There are countless amounts of reasons why manatees are hunted and murdered, and the best reasoning is because they can’t fight back for themselves. Manatees are defenseless creatures and if clubs or humans don’t respect them enough to fight their fight they will become extinct.
