Disgusting! Disturbing! Undesirable! Those are words students describe the school lunch as they know it today. Astonishing! Appetizing! Delightful! Heavenly! Those are words students will describe school lunch after there is a greater variety of food. Numerous students throw away food they refuse to eat or care for because it is disgusting and disturbing. If someone collected all the food being thrown away, they would end up with more food in the trash over what is being consumed. Enhanced food variety will have students consume what is served for lunch before throwing the food away and entice more students to eat lunch at school. Because the schools' income will increase and the students' health will improve, Shullsburg Schools needs a greater variety at lunch. …show more content…

An abounding number of students bring cold lunch every day because they have limited taste for lunch. This district is losing money with the amount of food that is wasted each day at lunch. If they knew they had more choices, students would not bring cold lunch as often. When fewer students bring cold lunch, the school will earn extra money for extended food options. Teenagers that use the open campus option for lunch, will stay at school to eat. Having a variety of food at lunch will raise more income for the district. Least importantly, having a variety can improve students' health. When children do not eat at school or leave for open campus, they can become sick with a lack of or improper nutrition in their body. Countless students arrive at school not knowing what is for lunch until announcements. By then, it is too late to bring a cold lunch from home. With more variety, students will eat lunch at school even if they are clueless on what is for lunch because they have another choice. As a choice, the cooks can serve what they know students like.
