At this very moment in time, the pendulum for the United States is not swinging in the right direction. We are moving farther away from the utopian world that was once desired by many Americans across the United States. This is partly due to the school shootings that have been occurring nation wide. It seems that the majority population is being torn apart by such a controversial issue. The people in the United Sates that do not support Trumps decisions would rather seem him fail, than accept the fact that he is our president and to see him do something good with his power. Citizens in the United States expect Trump to ban everything just because they see the harm in theses weapons. The thing that makes the mind ponder is that if we ban everything that’s bad, can the unstable people who still want these weapons get them? There is a thought that this world could become a lot worse If we take the things away that also protect us. One example that relates to this issue is what took place at the Crossroads Center Mall on September 17th, 2016. An off duty officer, also known as a civilian at that time, had a conceal and carry permit, and open fired on the perpetrator who had stabbed 10 innocent people that night. The off duty officer fired and shot the attacker and killed him point blank. If gun control was ‘more regulated’, then people who are put into those kinds of situations would have no self-defense mechanism. Guns can be both a weapon of choice to harm, but can also be a powerful source of defense. The people of the United States voted president Trump into office because they didn’t like the way the pendulum was currently swinging.
