Sex selection is wanting the change of the sex in the possible child into what you truly want the gender to be. Sex selection is often frowned upon in some religions and states. Choosing baby gender is the ability/attempt to control the sex of your offspring, so that you are able to have your desired sex. There are many ways that this can be done both pre and post implantation of an embryo. However, in some countries, including Canada, it is illegal to choose the sex of your baby, unless there is a medical reason for the process to be done (Caine). Perhaps one of the positive sides of applying the gender selection method is the opportunity of would-be parents to raise the number of children they want. In some countries, limiting the size of a family is encouraged (ConnectUS). Also some couples may want a specific gender for one child and will only want that one child. It also helps the parents take better care of the child. Another advantage of sex selection which proponents find important is the capacity of parents to start a family. With having just enough number of children to raise, couples will be more capable to take care of their kids and give them good education as well as proper nutrition (ConnectUS). If the parent knows the sex of the child then there will be a likelihood of the parent being able to get anything in particular for the child. It can be very helpful with parents with genetic disorders so that they can possibly have a child when not really able to have a child. There are medical conditions that are genetically related and gender specific that a mother or a father can pass on to a child. If this is a concern, pre-selection of gender before conception is an effective alternative to prevent this condition
