Sex Trafficking
The world is a place where even the people we love can be our worst enemies. A friend of mine told me the story of how her mother was victim to sex trafficking at a young age, betrayed by the one person who she loved and was essentially her benefactor. She fell in love with a man and soon moved into a house with him, little did she know, she would soon be raped, beaten, and then sold. Although she managed to escape, she was very traumatized during this inhumane period of her life. Sex trafficking itself is also inhumane and must be stopped by all means, in all levels. In order to stop sex trafficking we can do things like heavily punishing those who are committing the crime, both buyers and sellers, while also attending to the needs of the victims, those who have been a exposed to such acts.

This is an issue that occurs locally as well as globally. “Generally, the trafficking flows from poorer countries to countries where the average person’s living standard is relatively high” (Parillo, 843). This means that people from countries that are still developing are taken to capitalist, developed countries, also known as first world countries. They are transported to these countries for forced prostitution, and also in many cases forced marriage. These people are tricked into believing they are signing up for a good paying job in another country with more opportunity, or are forcefully taken from their homes and families while the trafficker only has one plan in mind for them: selling their body for
