Do you want to live with the possibility of life for our future generations to be dreadful because of pollution caused by us? If we use shale gas it will and is already leading to pollution by contaminating the waterways in Pennsylvania. I believe we should not use shale gas until we are able to fracture it without polluting the waterways. We should also start this process gradually instead of a big rush so that we are not too dependent on the gas. Currently we use coal, oil, and natural gas as energy sources to run our everyday lives. They are all nonrenewable resources, once they run out we will not have any more of them. Then millions of gallons of highly pressurized water mixed with sand and fracking chemicals are shot into the shale. The natural pressure forces liquid back up the well then the gas rushes up into the pipe. The well produces gas for years. However, it also releases wastewater from deep inside the shale. I do not support the use of shale gas. It has a contaminated waterway that is risking the lives of millions of humans and animals. In Pennsylvania it allowed methane to contaminate the water, which can cause the water to burn. This could potentially take years off of our lives.
One of the most abundant sources of shale gas is located in the Marcellus, which is located in Pennsylvania through New York. They are majorly populated states and the fracking of shale gas will disrupt the lives of millions and also if it pollutes it will endanger them as well. However, it will also create jobs and make the country's money which could help with our nation’s debt. But once all the shale gas is gone, it could possibly cause another great depression due to the dependency on the shale
