Texas Holdem has copious amounts of variations it can be played, and the "sit and go" is one of the more popular ones. Playing a "sit and go" is easy, but making money consistently, well, that's more of a challenge than you think. I have put together this series of articles, and it will explain every aspect you need to know to be a profitable "sit and go" player. The early stage of a "sit and go" is very boring, and patience is the name of the game. Let me say that one more time; patience is the name of the game, and if you don't possess this quality, you need to find another hobby. When you start playing a "sit and go," you will immediately see your impatient players, and what we call "donkeys," just throwing there chips away. The early …show more content…
The past 2 1/2 years have been nice to me but for now it is all over. The first blow was that I live in the state of Washington which made it a felony to play poker online. A felony with the same punishment as raping a child!Talk about ridiculous. Mind you it is quite alright to bet on the lottery or horse racing online or to go to one of the dozens of Indian casinos to gamble. That's just fine our politicians say. But play poker in your own home on the Internet and you are a very, very bad person. The second blow affected everyone in the US as the politicians in Washington DC (who are much smarter than everyone else) passed the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act). This forced most online casinos to stop taking credit card payments and Neteller payments from people playing in the US. Although you could still find a couple of ways to get your money in, it was now much harder and most of the fish (bad players) left when their money ran out. What remained was the better players playing the better players and no new money being introduced into the game. These two things happened within months of each other and I decided to give up the online game at least until the climate changes back to being more favorable. So, how did I win over $30,000.00 playing part time in about 2 1/2 years? It really was quite easy once I figured out how to do it. First I must say that I was not a beginner when I began playing online. I have spent way …show more content…
They are starting to see the skill involved in becoming a winning poker player. Whether it's hand reading, calculating pot odds, or bluffing, there is a lot to think about in poker. However, one of the most important skills doesn't get talked about enough. This is the skill of table selection. Table selection is simply the art of finding tables with bad players. People who value this skill highly realize that a huge percentage of the money made from playing poker is from capitalizing on other players' mistakes. And tables filled with bad players will have more mistakes to capitalize on. Hand Examples Let's look at two hand examples to prove my point. These examples comes from my local casino. In the first example, I was playing $1/$2 no limit Texas holdem. I was on the button with about $100. Everyone folded to me. I looked down at my cards and found two black kings. I raised my premium hand to $10. The small blind raised me to $30. The big blind called the $30. I pushed my remaining $90 in the middle. The small blind folded after much deliberation. Then, the big blind called my all-in with Jack-10 suited! This was a huge mistake for him because he's only winning 20% of the time against pocket kings. Good players, if they were in his position, would have folded Jack-10 suited. However, since I was playing against a bad player, I
