Good morning, I, Madison Soetebeer and my partner Sarah Lemay, strongly believe that the government should create laws that provide elite athletes and illustrious celebrities with special crime privileges. The most critical value found in this debate is human dignity. Celebrities and athletes should be able to provide happiness for others, work on their careers, and be granted safety. For these reasons and those that follow, my partner, Sarah Lemay and I, stand firmly in support of today's resolution, “Resolved: The government should make laws that give athletes and celebrities special crime privileges.” To begin, celebrities and athletes should be able to provide happiness and service for others. According to the Make A Wish Foundation, one of the four frequently requested wishes is “A celebrity wish: I wish to meet…a sports idol, a favorite band, a movie star…”(Frequently Asked Questions). The government should construct a law that admonishes celebrities from the repercussion of jail time so they can continue to provide their service for organizations like Make A Wish. There is a law put in place in the United States that says kids ages six to sixteen must attend school. According to the Webster dictionary law is “a rule of conduct or action prescribed or formally recognized as binding or enforced by a controlling authority”(Merriam Webster). Being a celebrity or athlete is a career they can hold onto for the future, therefore, there is no need to attend school five days a week. Some could complain that they are still children and need to be educated, however, their futures are already set up for them because they are consummate at what they do.
