The average student loan debt for Class of 2017 graduates was $39,400, up six percent from the previous year. Americans owe over $1.48 trillion in student loan debt; that’s about $620 billion more than the total U.S. credit card debt. There are 44.2 million Americans with student loan debt. The average monthly student loan payment (for borrower aged 20 to 30 years) is $351. To eradicate this problem, we can pay college tuition using Ramen noodles. At the end of a 75 day semester, each student owes the college 225 Ramen noodle packets, equivalent to one Ramen packet for each meal during those 75 days. Therefore, students will be paying much less than what tuition actually costs as of now, and will not struggle with debt after graduation. This will save students billions upon billions of dollars. Professors would appreciate the Ramen. Why would they want a traditional salary over that? I mean they would only use their traditional salary to buy those delicious noodles anyway! Since over a million Ramen noodle packets will be collected by the end of the second semester, professors will be able to feed their families for decades, and students will be debt-free. In fact, this could solve the world hunger crisis as well. With the average packet of Ramen costing only 13 cents, each semester of college would cost approximately $29.25 with a full year costing $58.50. With four years of college costing a mere $234, the cost of college tuition would decrease by 197.6%.
