Bloody asphalt and smart start are driving classes that people can take to help them learn more about what being on the road is really like. Some are a series of instructional videos produced by highway patrol officers. Most people don’t typically take these sort of classes, they usually just take regular drivers ed. Which normally consists of simple reading, sitting through a few classes, then they send you off to take your permit test. At this point, you’re sitting there waiting to take this test thinking you know about everything when it comes to driving. However, you really don’t, no one does. Fifty percent of all teens will be involved in a crash before graduating high school. That number is too high and we need to do all that we can to lower it. So that is where bloody asphalt or smart start come into play. They teach a lot of information that most likely wouldn’t be taught at drivers ed. Sometimes the classes can even be difficult to sit through. They show what being behind the wheel is really like. They are brutally honest. They want everyone to be aware of the dangers of being in a car and how to stay as safe as possible. That is why these classes exist, they are there to make sure that the pictures shown are glued in the memory of the kids in that class forever, to keep them and everyone else on the road safe. People think texting and driving is no big deal, but clearly it is considering that it is the leading cause of death for teens today. Texting and driving is not a joke.
