Should Texting And Driving Be Banned For Everyone In Missouri? You are driving and you get a text message. You read it and then all of the sudden, you notice a cop behind you. You get all nervous thinking you are going to get a ticket, but then you find out that the ban for texting and driving is only for people who are 21 and younger and you are 22. You think you are fine, until you do it again and get into a wreck and you get serious injuries and the person in the other car has worse injuries than you. Research has shown that more people will not text and drive if there is a ban for it (long n.d.) If there was a ban, people's behavior would change. They would stop because they would not want to get pulled over and get a ticket. To help ban it, they would need a campaign and a campaign slogan like “Don’t Text and Drive” (Kliff,2010). The history of wrecks that have been caused by texting and driving is horrible in Missouri. In 2015, 19,000 accidents happened in Missouri. Those accidents caused 8,000 injuries and 113 deaths (Trager,2016). The amount of accidents that have been caused by people texting and driving has increasing since 2012. There was only 1,600 accidents in 2012 (Barton,n.d.), and now here was are in 2016 looking back at 2015 realizing how many accidents were caused by texting and driving.
