On January 13, 2017 a close friend of mine lost his life due to the dangers of texting and driving. He would still be here if someone hadn’t have been texting and driving and would’ve just put the phone down. With this being done, it caused him to swerve and go into a ditch and flip three times. Logan died at the scene while the person who’s fault it was walked away with no scratches or bruises. Would you want a family member or friend to be on the road or in the car with someone who is texting or driving? I wouldn't think so. I’d say the sense of knowing you killed or injured someone will stay with you forever, it will never go away. This shows our age group has the highest chance of having a fatal crash revolving around texting and driving. (Texting and Driving Statistics. 2015) I believe this occurs because we as humans think we can do many things at once I think we should band the laws of texting and driving and keep a good eye out on everybody that’s doing it. Cities all over the world should ban texting while driving because texting and driving leads to many deaths and we should stop this as soon as possible so many more people won't get hurt anymore. With all of this taking place, many states and cities have come to the conclusion to now have laws against texting while driving and also penalties for it. I remember when I was doing my research I read some of the comments and most of the people were saying “Oh my gosh, they can’t do that” “If they make a law I’m never driving again!” In my opinion I see nothing wrong with making a little laws around the world. These penalties include hefty fines, license suspension, rise in auto insurance rates, and you can even serve prison time. (Texting and Driving Is Illegal. 2015) Is sending that text even worth it? I mean risking your freedom and putting other lives including your life in danger just by one text, it’s not even worth it. With car crashes being the leading cause of death for the United States, people have came together to figure out ways to break the habit and try to end texting and driving. For instance they have come up with cars that will alert you if you’re about to crash or if you’re close to something. A phone line called AT&T is to combat texting and driving by offering a DriveMode app for the Iphone. What the app does sounds amazing!
