American Dream Definition

A common perception young adults come face to face with is the “American Dream”. The American Dream comes in many shapes and forms, due to everyone conceiving information differently to make up their own meaning of it. In honest definition the American Dream is just being able to thrive in society being well off and able to support a family stably. What needs to be answered is if the American Dream, in definition, achievable by all citizens? Evidence I have resorted to, shows that its achievable to only a selective group of people.

A key point that gets in front of the way of people 's route of the American Dream is racism. People of color trying to find a job to make a living find it hard because of the ethnicity they are. In an analysis by

We can all agree that even with a degree, inequality still thrives in the workplace and women are the example of this. Women are treated differently in the workplace just due to them being female. From the way they are spoken to, to the money they earn. According to SSN.org, “ Women still make only about 80% of what men earn for full time jobs… Women are less likely to hold managerial or supervisory positions, and when they do, their positions carry less authority.” These factors are the truth about what goes on in the workplace and they need to be regulated for even opportunity and

They are the future that holds this country together and some of them can 't seem to make a living for themselves due to something out of their control, being born into poverty. An article by NCCP.org, information about child poverty states, “ Children are over represented among our nation 's poor; they represent 23 percent of the population but compromise 32 percent of all people in poverty.” Some people might say that a lot of children earn honest living and is just a way of life. This might seem true to others but, the poor keep growing in numbers as the “top ten percent” get richer. APA.org states, “Poverty is linked with negative conditions such as substandard housing, inadequate nutrition and food insecurity, inadequate child care, lack of access to healthcare, unsafe neighborhoods and under resourced schools.” All these points work against the child 's success in the world and just keep them at the level of poverty they were born
