The United States House of Representatives is one of the two houses of Congress, the legislative branch of the federal government. The House of Representatives is composed of 435 voting members, who are elected every two years from their respective congressional districts. However, many experts believe that this number is too low to effectively represent the interests and needs of the American people. In this essay, I will argue that the number of representatives in the US House of Representatives should be expanded to better serve the American people. First and foremost, expanding the number of representatives in the US House of Representatives would help to ensure that every American citizen is more accurately represented. With only 435 representatives, each member of Congress is responsible for representing an average of over 700,000 people. This means that many Americans do not have a direct voice in Congress and their needs and interests may not be adequately represented. By increasing the number of representatives, we can reduce the size of each congressional district, thereby ensuring that each representative is better able to represent their constituents.
