Everyone has a smart phone. Teenagers and adults use them for business, work, recreation, and simply to stay updated on friends, family, and the world in general. However, it seems that people of a much different demographic are becoming more and more tech savvy as time goes by. Who are these newly technological group of people? Toddlers and babies. This essay will outline and explain all that you need to know about exactly how old these tech geniuses are, where they are coming from, and the effects of their early exposure to the world of touchscreens.

Most adults had never even seen a smartphone until their thirties or forties, but according to an article by the Los Angeles Times, "Thirty-six percent of parents who answered a recent survey said their children had ‘touched or scrolled a screen’ before they had celebrated their first birthday." The article goes on to add that along with the thirty-six percent of kids that were using touchscreens before they turned one, "an additional 33 percent of parents said their kids had done so when they were 1 year old."
