Since 2001, terrorism has killed 3,380 Americans. What if in future years... this number could be reduced? Not only in America, but in many other countries has terrorism corrupted minds and lives. In 2001, after 9/11, the US declared a war on terror. First going after Taliban and Al Qaeda, then attacks on ISIS. In recent years the war has been successful for the US, but the unpredictable acts that happen make it look like we are losing. The war in Afghanistan and Iraq has been going on for over 13 years. The U.S. and its allies have been fighting against extremist and radicalized terrorists. Sending more troops into the middle east has become an uprising debate, with lives on the line, the United States should continue to send troops to to Afghanistan and Iraq, troops in Afghanistan and Iraq are allowing the U.S. to protect itself and other countries against the radicals, extremists, and terrorist groups.

They are wrong because even though we should do whatever is necessary to end put a stop to terror, troops in the middle east do not even need to play a combat role. “This US military presence in Afghanistan doesn't have too large, nor does it have to play a combat role, but US troops should remain in Afghanistan to advise the Afghan army and provide intelligence support” (Bergen). The allied forces that are in Iraq and Afghanistan besides the US is very disorganized. Without the troops there, the allied forces could become weaker and even more disorganized. We do not even need to be in combat, simply train the troops there or provide support like intelligence or using UAVs, something the allies do not have much access to. Yes, we must to put lives on the line, but if we did not, the result could be much
