Why should students take basic courses that goes towards our degree, an individual feels like it doesn’t have anything to do with our major we shouldn’t take it? A requirement course does nothing but take the person’s money when it can be used for something else. Students already spend so much money in college on things like; food, parking permits, dorms, apartments, books that will be used in class, and tuitions. Texas State is already expensive alone, the people deserve better. The one specific change the university needs to make is the amount of courses the student has to take because its already stressful how it is, colleges need to make it easier on the students before they cause students to breakdown. “Students just need to realize how skills learned in one class can apply to an entirely different subject and, furthermore, situations that could be encountered during one’s career” (Seraphin). What Texas State doesn’t know is they’re putting too much stress on the student body. Our peers know that nothing is easy an individual got to earn it, but this is beyond hard for every student on campus. It’s unbelievable that students have to take forty-two credit hours of core classes. The other thing difficult about this situation is we have to pay for fees which is ridiculous they expect us to do so much its crazy. Why are students treated like this? One feels like a student is being used as a machine if they think these core classes are helping when their really not, it’s just making it harder and sooner or later students will start protesting. The students deserve better they have come too far to drop out it’s already hard enough for the courses that do matter, the fact that students and parents have to go through this doesn’t make sense because it’s way too much money and a waste of time. Texas State and other colleges overlook that this is becoming nearly impossible especially for the others that don’t have a
