Abstract

This research study will explain why the NBA and WNBA commissioner should combine both leagues. This topic is important because female basketball players possess and show the same skill as male basketball players but, does not get the same respect as the NBA players. The hypothesis of this study will be that the WNBA commissioner will realize the WNBA is not going to be as global as the NBA and will try to do something to help get the WNBA players the money and respect women deserve. The qualitative method will be used in this research study to show why these leagues should be combined. Creating a giant league will make viewers more entertained. Things could be improved if there were a league made up of NBA and WNBA players such as the the non competitive playoffs for the NBA, the short WNBA season, and also how the NBA all star weekend is getting less entertaining every year. It is a dispute because it doesn’t allow females to get the respect they deserve as basketball players, also does not get paid as much as they should. The WNBA is not evolving into anything as big as the NBA, and the female basketball players also does not get to represented by the large companies such as Nike and Jordan. The problem with the male basketball players are that they have to deal with continuous injuries. With women coming into the league, rules would be changed like the poor and inconsistent calls from the referees. Considering the fact that the WNBA doesn’t average many technical fouls or ejections.
