In a world of sports driven people, I anticipate pursuing the life behind the athletes. As I near graduation from High School, I intend on ensuing a career in Sports Media. This may be a degree of faith, some would say, to pursue such a career in a male dominated system. Yet, I believe I can change this outlook on such a life. In the world of sports, I present to you the idea of women having a say. The problem with our society, is there is a superabundance of what has always been, and, what will always be. Many, when they hear of my future endeavors, applaud me and tell me, as the trite cliche says, “follow my dreams.” Yet, there are few who seemingly assume I am unable of such a life, to borrow as a sexist, trite cliche, “a man’s job.” We see concepts as these, more often than not in the media itself. Equalization is not permitted in the world of sports, and some argue it shouldn't be, but I argue otherwise. The women you see commentating athletic events on television are thought to have a lack of knowledge, per say, and are placed before the camera as an attraction to viewers. On this blog, she shared some pros to being a female in this field. One being just that: existing as a female. Being the unusual gender in this career is a standout in itself, yet Dosh had more to prove. Aside from the many sideline reporters, she chose to lean towards the actual, hard copy writing of sports analysis. She created the name “SportsBizMiss” as a unique way to make her noticed. As far as Dosh is concerned, looks aren't everything. She wrote, “Maybe if you’re drop dead gorgeous, it’s enough, but I still want to believe you have to back it up with talent and hard work” (Dosh, np).
