Imagine, being taken away from your family, and thrown into a cold, steel, cage. Luckily, people don’t have to worry about that, but all wild animals do. This is what zoo’s do. They carelessly take an animal from their habitat and family, against their will, and take them to an unfamiliar place where you get starved to be trained and stared at. Zoos lie to us, and we don’t even realize it. They abuse animals even though their already uncomfortable with their surroundings. Zoos also don’t know when to stop taking in animals, when they do not even have the space. Zoos should not keep animals. Zoos lie to us, without us even realizing it. From the article ‘Do zoos shorten elephant life spans?’ states, “But a new and controversial study in Science suggests that captivity is so bad for female elephants’ health and overall well-being that their life spans are less than that of calf of those of protected populations in Africa and Asia . The data also indicates that captive-born Asian elephant calves are particularly likely to die young.” Zoos show that even though zoos say they take animals and care for them, they …show more content…

Animals are uncomfortable with their surroundings in the zoo, and when they’re old enough, they will start to train them, which includes using whips, and starving them, until the animal/animals have their routine down. When an animal is too old to preform, or be ‘cute’ to the public, they are killed, and another animal takes its place. It makes a major difference in today’s society, because there is donating to stop zoos, and even riots. As an example, let’s say you’re an elephant in a zoo, only 3 years of age, and having to do the same performance until you’re so tired, you basically can pass out. You get whipped when you mess up, and there is no comfort, why? Because the people who brought you here either took you away from your family, or your family got to old, and they were killed and replaced. Zoos should not keep
