Seatbelts should be required on school busses. Seatbelts protect the lives of children by keeping them safe during bus crashes, also they help with the overall behavior on school busses. Seatbelts should be required and worn on school busses. One reason seatbelts should be required on school busses is because of the safety of the students during a bus crash or or accident. According to Faris, kids could get ejected from the bus or thrown around if they are not buckled in. Kids who are not buckled into a seat belt could get seriously hurt or even killed when the bus crashes or rolls over. According to a writer for ehow, wearing a seat belt is the most effective method to reduce injury or prevent death during an accident. In fact, not wearing a seat belt is the single contributing factor that causes more deaths in motor vehicle crashes. The bus drivers main mission is to get the kids from point A to point B safely. Alward says that the use of seat belts improve students overall behavior on school buses. Having the distraction of kids jumping from seat to seat will take away from the bus drivers focus, possibly leading to a crash.
