“To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. The more helpless the creature, the more that it is entitled to protection by man from the cruelty of man," this was once said by Mahatma Gandhi on why we should appreciate animals as much as human beings. Animals are gifts from God and without them, the world would not be complete. Millions of animals are subjected to imprisonment and have terrible procedures done in order to satisfy our needs. By needs, these creatures are being tortured or killed for the products we use. How would you feel if we were to trade places with these animals for experiments? Wouldn’t it be the same thing since animals are living things too? Animals can suffer like humans do, so it is speciesism to experiment on them while we refrain from experimenting on humans. The innocent animals are being abused without any reason. The only product that is forced by law, to test on animals, are certain types of chemicals and pharmaceutical products. However, in Draize Test, the scientist rub shampoo, soap, lipstick or lawn products into the white albino rabbit eyes for a long period of time. Torturing and exploiting animals should not be a justification to make human’s life better. Researches and testing on animals cannot be justified on the basis that animals resembles human in so many ways. Feelings, thoughts, and needs of the animals which are similar to human should be respected, not exploited because of the selfishness of humans. Human should not use animals as tools to fulfil their needs without any consideration towards the animals.
