¨Cheerleading isn’t a sport because they cheer for other ones.¨ Most people would consider it not a sport, but I am here to tell you why I think it is. Not just because I’m a cheerleader, it’s my opinion and firm belief cheer should be recognized as a sport. Many people get injured and you have vigorous training that in most cases could be harder than training for basketball, for example. Cheerleaders have to be able to throw people, not just a ball. That requires a lot of conditioning and sometimes occasional injuries. Cheerleading is a very dangerous sport that in my opinion deserves to be treated like it is a serious sport. I bet the majority of people probably think cheerleading is just standing on the sidelines but it’s more than that. Many people don’t see the hours of day in and day out that we train. I think that people don’t even really know that cheerleading consists of competitions just like any other sport. I am a firm believer that if more people would start to look at it like a football team or a hockey team, we would have a lot more people supporting cheerleading as a major sport. …show more content…
Take the Super Bowl, for example. I mean, sure it’s about football, but what about the cheerleaders on the sidelines? Does anybody really even care how hard they had to work to get to where they are and to get how good they are? They probably train just as hard and just as long as the football players did all season just nobody notices because nobody considers them a serious sport. I would like to see all these people do what cheerleaders do and go out on that mat and hit everything. Being a cheerleader has a lot of hard work, training, focus, and more than anything,
