I’m sure you have heard the phrase, “Black Lives Matter”. The people who protest and shout this in the streets have a point, and they also have facts. Police officers are using racial profiling too much against young black men and women. Action must be taken on racial prejudice because young African-Americans do not feel safe walking around, unarmed black men are wrongfully and continuously being shot and killed by police, and many police have, on multiple occasions, been reported for being blatantly racist.
A major issue is that African-Americans do not feel safe walking down the street. On July 6, 2015, in McKinney, Texas, cops pulled up to a party simply because there were “too many black kids” (theobamadiary.com). This is unacceptable. This shows that there are police that will question black citizens simply because of their skin color. The racism must end now. 37% of African-Americans do not feel safe walking alone at night (gallup.com). That is an absurd amount. This number is likely to grow after the events of November 8, 2016.

Police killed at least 102 unarmed black men in 2015. That is five times the rate of whites (mappingpoliceviolence.org). This is true even though two-thirds of the United States are occupied by whites. Too many blacks are being killed by police. 57% of unarmed people killed by police in 2015 were black despite the population of blacks being only 13%. These numbers are likely headed in the wrong direction in the hands of the President-elect. Action must be taken to bring these numbers in the right
