Persuasive Speech On Education Rhetorical Analysis

Writer’s Statement:

The purpose of this persuasive speech is to persuade the importance of artificial intelligence being utilized in education. The audience would be Wendy Johnson (principle of Glenunga international high school) and the education department, since they are in high power and therefore have the ability to make changes to the education system. The speech would be held in a meeting where it can be formally presented. When presenting the speech the tone should be confident, engaging and reasonable since the audience are highly powerful people so you need to be presented as smart and sophisticated. I have achieved this tone by using statistics to illustrate the benefits of AI in education, such as increased student participation.

When I wake up I say to my google home “hey google what's the weather looking like today?”. The ai implemented in the system takes my location and displays data based on what it finds from the weather channel. It told me that instantaneously, and I didn’t even have to leave my bed. It is clearly evident that the evolution of ai has changed our lives, although Glenunga International High School is not using ai for education to its full potential.

Implementing Ai in education has the ability to support and assist teachers. Ai is already starting to be used as an educational tool for teachers, for example, plagiarism detection softwares identify content similarity matches preventing students from plagiarizing. In addition there are numerous online courses that allow students to work independently enhancing their learning since they can revisit the information at any time. According to a study by Ulrich Boser from the learning agency, the younger generations are deemed smarter than past generations in education because of new teaching methods from the help of technology and ai. It is clearly evident that ai is a fundamental tool to enhance the capabilities teachers have to push education to the next

Teaching methods have significantly changed overtime, in the 1900s memorization and repetition were the two most common teaching methods. Over 100 years laters, today, we have discovered new ways of teaching through fun and more interesting approaches. The potential of AI used as a teaching method would encourage creativity and make the learning process more fun therefore motivating the student to put effort. An approach to this idea would be the use of educational games which according to research helps increase the students participation since it brings a sense of competitiveness. As a student of Glenunga International high School I believe we have incorporated some of these methods in teaching, but it is still clear to me that we haven't benefited from all of them yet. Teachers should be setting fun educational activities each lesson to give students a break from long periods of working hard. Students would be able to refresh their minds allowing them to work harder and more efficiently.
