Every year individuals from all across the United States makes the decision on whether or not they will try out for an interscholastic athletic team. These individuals hope to be part of something special, whether it’s achieving individual goals or team goals. They also understand they will need to sacrifice time, energy, and their social life in order to achieve these goals. When tryouts begin these individuals hope their skills and abilities will get them recognized by not only the coaches, but the returning players as well. A problem arises though once try outs are over and the team is announced.
“Play for the name on the front of jersey, not the back.” A popular quote for sports players. What does it mean? Anyone who’s seen any sports game with a team uniform would know that the team name is located on the top of the front side of the jersey and the player’s last name goes on the top of the backside of the jersey. So, the quote means play for your team and not for yourself.
When the Star Spangled Banner plays during any event, people decide to stand up and show their dignity. Recently in the NFL many players have decided to take a knee during the playing of the anthem. When the national anthem plays, wherever you are, people should stand up and show their respect. Kneeling during the playing of the national anthem is a disrespect to our country. To a lot of people, mostly boys’ cheerleading isn’t considered a sport. But did you know that cheerleading was originally meant for boys? I bet you didn’t, the first cheerleader’s name was Johnny Campbell; he decided that one day that he wanted to lead chants at the University of Minnesota’s football game. He then created a whole team that would help him lead the crowd at different University of Minnesota sports games. Then, on November 2, 1898, Johnny Campbell was recognized to be the world’s first official cheerleader.
In the National Collegiate Athletic Association wrestling is one of the top five viewed championships in college sports, but how are we supposed to know who we like best when we only get to see them in the playoffs? I believe that there should be more college wrestling on TV. There should be more wrestling on TV because it’s unfair. There’s NCAA football and basketball on television all the time, so why shouldn’t there be wrestling too? Eighty-three percent of the people I interviewed agreed with me on this subject.
Recently Trump has criticized the NFL for not forcing the players to stand during the anthem. He says that it's a “Total disrespect for our great country!” and that it's disrespecting the military and everyone who fought for our freedom. I believe fighting in hockey should be allowed because it increases fans and entertainment value. It Is a crucial element of hockey. And it is a way to punish plays not seen by the referees.
While some believe that athletes should have their own choice at making a decision to go pro straight out of high school, they should not do so because they will not be able to manage their million dollar contracts respectively. Speaking of contracts, the NBA should eliminate guaranteed contracts for rookies drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. They should do this because a careless high school kid, could just go into the draft not knowing, or caring on how much they are going to make, with the lack of experience on handling millions of dollars. This is very unrepsonsibible for a teenager, and not only for the high school athlete, but also for the basketball association as well. This is because of there noncommitment to have these players

Sports medicine is very important in sports because if it wasn’t there players would be getting hurt more and they might not heal correctly. Without it players would be getting injured more and wouldn’t have the proper way to treat themselves. To start it off, sports medicine isn’t just antibiotics there are lots of physical treatments. When a player gets hurt they take antibiotics, but they are also exercising whatever they injured to keep that in shape.
