In a direct free kick, the kicker can aim for the goal and the ball does not have to touch another player. Hence, it is called the direct kick because it can go directly into the goal. Furthermore, a player cannot trip, bite, spit on, hit, kick, hold, push, jump at, charge after, or strike the opposing players. If this rule is not followed, there will be a foul and the possibility of a penalty kick.
