Specific Purpose: To encourage students to join the act of fighting for liberation
Thesis: Progressive Youth Organization does to reach out and gather young people of Kansas City to inform them about the people's struggle through capitalism and segregation and to get them to actively join them in the struggle for freedom.

The problem is that racist people see racism as conscious hate when racism is bigger than that.
2. Things like racism are institutionalized. You might not know any bigots. You feel like “well I don’t hate black people so I’m not a racist,” but you benefit from racism. Just by the merit, the color of your skin. The opportunities that you have, you’re privileged in ways that you might not even realize because you haven’t been deprived of certain things. We need to talk about these things in order for them to change.
B. PYO on the history of institutionalized racism under capitalism.
1. Capitalism first came about in Europe in the 15th and 16th century and racism was institutionalized.
2. They want to draw attention to is the declining of Black and Latino enrollment at UMKC where the university sits on the old segregation line in Kansas City known as the ‘Troost Line' (Capitalism and Segregation at The Roots).
