We as Americans can say that we are proud of what we have fought for and achieved. Years ago, oppression of self law and liberties constrained us from being the free men and women we are today. Though we see good in the change, there must be order to the new chaos we have witnessed. We fought as a Union to gain this freedom, yet we act as distant siblings traveling in their own direction. This is why we must formulate a new government, a government for the people, by the people.
America: The Beacon of Hope To many, America is considered the greatest country in the world; a place where anyone’s dreams can come true, a beacon of light in a world of oppression. Open doors give everyone the chance to enter, with a chance at a better life, with the mentality that working hard will let you succeed, building America up from the original 13 colonies to the 50 states we have today. However, in recent times there has been a change in people’s frame of mind, and as a result America has started to slip from its number one status.
It is a lively time. A time for change, a change for the better. A time to unite our divided country once again. We are a nation. A nation based on freedom and justice for all.
stands for a country divided can always come together. Today we realize our mistakes for yelling at soldiers who fought in Vietnam for they were protecting our values that we take for granted today. This generation showed that you may not like doing something but you have to do it for the sake of the nation even though everyone disagrees with you it is your duty to hold your ground. This generation defines what it means to be an American today. It means to be free and to stand your ground when everybody tells you no.
America was a country that was built upon by the hopes and dreams of immigrants wanting a happier life, and is now being held up barely by the falling apart of our political systems. In my lifetime, I have never once heard a person say that they are truly happy with the way the American government is running business, and it should not be that way. “The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government” (Hutyra). Happiness is the most important aspect in the development of a human’s brain. Happiness releases endorphins, which are important.
Throughout American History we have won and lost thousands of battles, earned and spent trillions of dollars, suffered through tragedies, and rejoiced at our successes. One common thread, running through all of these events is that no matter how powerful we are or how low we sink, we must ultimately come together to move on and to grow. To me, American History is all about unity in times of destruction and despair.
As he passionately addresses the need for unity, he explains how “the American people can no more meet the demands of today’s world by acting alone than American soldiers could have met the forces of fascism or communism with muskets and militias” (Obama). The logical parallels he draws between the demands of the modern world and those of war emphasize that only through collaboration and a shared sense of responsibility can the goals of the nation be achieved. This is demonstrated further when Obama uses logos to emphasize the necessity of a united America and the importance of collective action to progress as a society. Through praising the achievements of Americans, he explains that “together, we determined that a modern economy requires railroads and highways to speed travel and commerce, schools and colleges to train our workers” and that “together, we resolved that a great nation must care for the vulnerable, and protect its people from life’s worst hazards and misfortune” (Obama). By highlighting past achievements and societal goals, Obama creates logical arguments for the practical and tangible benefits of working together.
Fighting as one reaching all the people we shall overcome the divisiveness they are trying to accomplish. NO MORE! WE STAND AS ONE! Allowing social media to be our guide and platform as well. Reaching our actors to get out and vote for our children.
Recently, many people have forgotten why the United States of America was formed, for freedom and independence from a king and state. Some of us even have trouble remembering what rights we do have, due to the gradual but continuous media and educational focus on more current distractions. Few have taken notice, or been able to see through the daily fog of which Iphone to buy or what flag offends who. There is still discrimination everywhere we look being race, body type, the religion we follow. More and more police are being caught on camera shooting unarmed citizens, throwing bombs into cribs during no-knock, warrantless entries, and causing the general public to lose faith in a system of governance originally set up to protect and serve.
When facing the darkest times individually or collectively, one thing we can be certain of is that we’ve been here before and we’ve been through worse. Together, we’ve been through sadness, disappointment, war, upheaval, conflict, fear, grief, loss, uncertainty, dictatorship, bigotry, and divisiveness. But that has never truly brought down the stars and stripes. The struggles we have been though in the past, give me hope for the future.
In the future, I also hope that war becomes a thing of the past. That clean energy will win out over the old, harmful means, and peace will settle into the hearts of our enemies. No more mothers and fathers or brothers and sisters lost in order to protect our freedom. Terrorism and violence will fade away, and solidarity will take their place. We will stand united once more.
America is falling to pieces: were voting for a president that's simply funny instead of one that could change our country for the better; People are being harmed, not because they have done something wrong, simply because they are being themselves; teenagers are killing themselves because of the cruelty of society and their peers; children are obese and rather play on their parent's smartphone than play with outside with their toys or friends. The people who notice these problems and are trying to fix them are making little progress. Some people are noticing the problems and they will be the ones to change America for the better, although not enough people are noticing and wanting to change for the better so there is little progress. The people who are helping often sympathize or relate to the people being hurt for who they are.
Task I In my personal experience, Americans are generally not happy people. In fact, the only time I have been surrounded by happy people was when I volunteered in a resort area for terminally ill children. I concluded by the end of the experience that because they were facing something so serious, they were able to enjoy the time with their family. Americans are so wrapped up in small things, such insignificant details that they cannot enjoy the world around them.
All of us can say that we have a common destiny that can be related with one another. America has kept the promise to most people, the only people that i can say are disappointed are
In my opinion, the American culture had to the negative aspect and It was linked to the oppressiveness of the American foreign policy, which is based on the aggressive domination of inferior countries. At that time, I did not hold any experience for agreeing or disagreeing with their expansive views. The day I immigrated to California with my family five years ago, is still fresh in my mind. It was one of the best moments in my life, as well as an unexpected life changing experience that I will never forget. Today, I still cannot come to terms with leaving behind my friends, family and the people I grew up with, as it was one of the hardest experiences in my life.
