The Baltimore Ravens are a football team in the National Football League, in the American Football Conference division that was established in 1996 at Baltimore, Maryland. It is currently under the ownership of Steve Biscotti. Ozzie Newsome is currently the General Manager and John Harbaugh is the head coach. It is compiled by elite players like quarterback Joe Flacco, kicker Justin Tucker, outside linebacker Terrell Suggs etc. The official mascots for the Baltimore Ravens are Poe and his brothers Edgar and Allan. Original owner Art Modell was formerly the owner of the Cleveland Browns. He had proposed to the National Football League about relocating his team to Baltimore, Maryland. An immense outcry emerged by the National Football League and fans of the Cleveland Browns, that forced Art Modell to leave the Cleveland Browns behind and start a brand new team “The Baltimore Ravens”. According to Adam Augustyn, “As part of the agreement, Cleveland kept the Brown’s name, history and colours for a future replacement team, so the newly renamed Ravens – the moniker stems from the famous poem by Baltimorean Edgar Allan Poe.” (Augustyn 1) Following the name change also came creating a theme including uniforms, logo and choosing a stadium. The rivalry mainly consists of nasty fights, broken bones, accusations and allegations. According to Cohn, “If during the past decade the franchises had not forges what is considered to be the NFL’s most intense, competitive and bone-crunching rivalry.” (Cohn 1) The league continues to dismiss the rivalry as much as possible describing it as friendly rough competition but according to the players it seems sometimes more than that. Terrell Suggs is a current linebacker for the Ravens that has experienced first-hand the rivalry. According to Cohn, “Terrell Suggs would not be sporting a T-shirt showing a dirty bird flashing a well-known, single-digit gesture under the words, “Hey, Pittsburgh,” as he did while talking about what he calls “the best rivalry in sports.” (Cohn 1). Although the rivalry started when players like Ray Lewis played for the Ravens and Hines Ward for the Steelers, it seems as though the rivalry is not as intense anymore. According to Harrison, “It’s a different group of players. Everything has changed a little bit.
