“They, said someday you'll find all who love are blind, when your heart's on fire ,you must realize,smoke gets in your eyes.”( The Platters) In The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, the people became blind by the love Lucentio had for Binca they did not see the brainwashing abuse that Petruchio put Kate threw. Kate and Petruchio’s relationship was abusive because in the beginning, Kate did not believe there was something wrong with her, Petruchio brainwashed kate, but on the flip side The Shakespearean language makes the play humorous. She was like a pon in his game, and his game was a sick, twisted way of “taming the shrew.” This is important because if this was up into a real life situation the Abuser would get a pat on the back, fiction or nonfiction abuse not something to laugh at. Some might say that The Shakespearean language covers up the meaning of abuse, shows the true love in an egotistical relationship. “I see a woman may be made a fool, If she had not a spirit to resist.” (III,2,209-10) Some of the comebacks that Kate has are very funny and can be took as jokes or light insults because women were basically property that could talk.But the light hearted words of Shakespeare do not take place of the brutal actions Kate received by her Mate. Also abusive actions,words, etc. are nothing to play with, and should not be taken
